Raktu Seed and Turquoise 108 Mala

  |

PAIR IT WITH

  • Handmade in the shadow of the Boudanath Stupa by our friend Dipendra, this 108 bead mala is made with traditional raktu seed beads and pressed turquoise spacers.
  • There is no greater joy than when we get to sit and drink a cup of sweetened Nepali tea while visiting his shop, and watch the pilgrims walk clockwise around the great stupa.  This simple mala is a staple at Dipendra's shop in Boudhanath.
  • With meaning similar to the bodhi seed, many practitioners use raktu malas for their essence and inherent teachings of enlightenment within each seed.

These mala beads are great if you like a natural seed bead in a smaller size.  Seed malas are some of the most common malas used in Tibet and Nepal.  These seeds are sustainable and are harvested each year, and then drilled and made into mala beads.

Mala measures approximately 28 inches around.  Beads are 8mm.
