Medicine Buddha Singing Bowl

  |
  • This handmade singing bowl is hand cast in Patan just outside of Kathmandu, Nepal.  It is hand painted and finished by a master thangka painting artist.
  • The mantra of the Medicine Buddha wraps around the outside along with an image of Medicine Buddha inside.
  • The Medicine Buddha is a deity of compassion and healing.  He is believed to alleviate suffering for mental and physical illness.  Often his image is shown with rays of lapis lazuli light radiating from his crown.

The mantra reads, "Om Bekandze Bekandze, Maha Bekandze, Radza Samudgate Soha."  This translates to, "May the many sentient beings who are sick, quickly be freed from sickness.  And may all the sicknesses of beings never arise again."
