Essence of Impermanence Necklace

  |
  • We are very excited about our line of skull pendant necklaces from the Mountain Spirit Collection!
  • This necklace combines traditional Tibetan style elements with Southwestern sensibilities.
  • Features a hand carved yak bone pendant from Nepal set in silver-plated brass.  Strung on a long hand woven cord from Brazil with beautiful seed and faceted Czech glass beads.

The skull in Buddhism is often recognized as a symbol of impermanence.  This necklace is a powerful reminder to be here now and to live in the present moment; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.

In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, and ritual items.  Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animal goes to waste.  These amazing bone pendants are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.

Necklace measures about 32 inches around.  Pendant is about 2 inches tall from bale, 3 inches across, and 0.5 inch thick.

More than jewelry it's a piece of art!

This is a lovely substantial piece that is well made and the back of the piece has a floral pattern on it. Why not contemplate beauty and impermanence at the same time? Very pleased.

So great that I ordered a second for gifting

This pendant is even nicer than I expected. The back is silver. My only minor complaint is that although the necklace is nice, and makes the overall feel a bit more feminine, it feels like it might not be strong enough to hold up to continual wear but it is lovely and it would be easy enough to switch chains. Bottom line: a beautiful piece!
