Bell and Dorje Heirloom Set

  |
  • Our original bell and dorje heirloom set is entirely handmade in Nepal using traditional methods.
  • A DharmaShop Heritage item, this authentic bell and dorje is one of the first items we carried over a decade ago.
  • Full of incredible detail with a beautiful tone, it is the perfect set for your altar space!

The bell and dorje are often used by Buddhists as sound offerings or as a way to clear space prior to meditation or ritual practice.  The bell and dorje sound is a tool on your path to enlightenment.  The bell symbolizes wisdom and emptiness, while the dorje represents compassion that leads to relief of suffering. Regarded as one object, they are rarely parted or used separately.

Bell measures approximately 5 inches tall and about 2.75 inch wide at the bottom.  Dorje is about 3.75 inches long.  Handmade in Nepal.

4 spokes

These are reasonable, however I was disappointed to discover that these only had 4 spokes instead of the traditional 3, 5 or 9. I will probably no return then (still deciding) but it might be nice to note in the description the number of spokes on the dorje and bell.

DharmaShop

Hello Kacey, Thank you for your feedback on the Bell and Dorje set. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and are happy to help further. The number of spokes on a Dorje can vary, but 4 spokes are the most common, and research indicates that four spokes hold significant meaning. They represent the four activities (Karma) of Buddha: pacifying, enriching, magnetizing, and destroying. It's important to note that this set is crafted by skilled artisans who are practicing Buddhists in Nepal. They adhere to traditional Tibetan Buddhist traditions and create ritual items with accurate representation. We understand that you prefer a different number of spokes, and appreciate your feedback! We don't currently offer sets with 3, 5, or 9 spokes, but that may be something we can source during a future trip to Kathmandu, Nepal. I hope this explanation is helpful. Never hesitate to contact us directly if you decide to return or exchange, and we are happy to assist further. Namaste!

Humbled to own. Truly beautiful.

As I am just starting out my personal journey to discovering a path towards mental health awareness, I have been exploring many ways to achieve this. Slowly studying and researching sound healing as well as the teachings of Buddhism, I believe this is where I am meant to be hence my purchase of these items. The bell compliments my numerous Dharma Shop singing bowls and is very well crafted along with the Dorje.

Stunning Prayer Bell and Dorje!

How wonderful to have received the beautiful Tibetan Prayer Bell and Dorje! I actually got emotional when I opened it! The items I purchased were well wrapped and protected within the shipping box. The craftsmanship of this bell is stunning! Seeing the handmade touches around and inside the bell makes it that much more special to me! The quality of the bell and Dorje is amazing! You will be so happy you made this purchase! One main reason I contacted the Dharma Shop specifically to purchase is that I read they ARE huge supporters of Artisans around the world in ethically sourced shops. I highly recommend that you consider making a purchase! Sincerely, Annie
