Himalayan Stoneware Mug

  |

  • Handmade in the ceramics district of the ancient city of Bhaktapur by a family operated artisan group whose craftsmanship and techniques have been passed down for generations.
  • Using locally sourced red clay, each mug is thrown by hand using a traditional potters wheel before being dried under the Himalayan sun.
  • They are bisque fired before being coated with lead-free, non-toxic glaze and fired for a second time to become stoneware, the most durable form of earthenware.

These artifacts quickly became our daily mugs for coffee and tea in the DharmaShop office! We have been working with ceramics artisans in Kathmandu for nearly two years developing what we believe is the perfect stoneware mug. When holding this heirloom, you can truly feel the care and artistry that went into each and every part of the process that brought this clay to life.

Color:

Available in two colors, Stone is a creamy white glaze with warm undertones. Soot is black in color with a hint of earthy undertones. The bottom portion of the mug showcases the natural Himalayan clay.

Care:

Each 10oz mug is food, microwave, and dishwasher safe. However, we recommend hand-washing as it will extend the life of your pottery.

Size:

Measures 3.5 inches at the base, 2.75 inches at the top, and is 3.5 inches tall.
