Sacred Rudraksha & Antique Pumtek Mala

  |

Buried Thunderbolt of Enlightenment
  • Hand strung by our skilled jewelry designer here at the DharmaShop, this one-of-a-kind mala necklace combines the grounding energy of 108 Rudraksha Seed beads from Nepal with the captivating history of three antique Pumtek beads.
  • Earlier this year, we visited with a husband and wife Tibetan artisan team that we work with in Nepal at a jewelry show in Arizona. We selected a handful of incredible antique Pumtek and Dzi beads from their collection and had our jewelry designer choose a few of her favorites to create some incredible one-of-a-kind heirloom malas.
  • These three antique treasures, each entirely one-of-a-kind, feature a striped design (round beads) and zig-zag design (long bead). The detail and texture of the beads, with their imperfections and even a small chip in the centerpiece bead, speak volumes to their age and authenticity.

The pairing of natural Rudraksha Seeds and unearthed Pumtek creates a powerful, one-of-a-kind mala for someone seeking spiritual growth and a connection to earth's ancient energy. Practitioners cherish these sacred Rudraksha Seeds for their calming and protective qualities. Each natural seed is unique, a reminder of the inherent beauty and variation found in nature.

The word Pumtek means, "buried thunderbolt" and these Pumtek beads are among the rarest and most sought after collectable beads in the world. Pumtek beads are made of opalized wood, a material that is indigenous to Burma where the beads originated. Opalized wood occurs when wood is fossilized and turned into stone, making these beads extremely unique.

Unearthed in Burma, traded to Nepal, traveled to Arizona, and assembled in Michigan. Well-traveled, loved, and full of rich history and transformation.

36" around with an adjustable knot.

Beads are 8mm. Round Pumtek beads are about 13mm, long Pumtek bead is just over 1.5".
