Awesome bowl. Great sound especially with the red felt mallet they offer(separately). Good range of medium to slightly high tone sounds(not so bright it hurts the ears though)while using the suede striker(included). With the felt mallet you get a more muted, warm and mid to low tone. A little more force is needed with the felt mallet to achieve lasting loud tone. So you have to hold it in your hand(it will move on a table/cushion. So you might need some endurance for longer playing sessions. I held it in meditation resting it in my left hand(using my left knee as a support )and playing it with my right hand for about 20 minutes and wasn’t uncomfortable . Very pleased! Love the little imperfections from the handmade hand hammered process. Definitely not machine milled. One of a kind!

Expectations exceeded!

This is my 3rd bowl from Dharma Shop! Mine came in at exactly 7" in diameter and consistently produces a rich warm G tone with the supplied medium suede and wood striker. The matte finish is perfection. Also, it's worth mentioning that the speed in which my order was processed and shipped was outstanding.

Hello Eileen, Thanks for your question! The bottom of our hand-hammered singing bowls is a combination of round and flat. Due to the hand-hammering process, the bottom has a slightly flattened area to allow it to sit stably, but it also maintains a generally rounded shape. This allows the bowl to both sit securely and resonate fully. I hope this information is helpful! We appreciate your inquiry and support.

Are the bowls bronze. You advertise 7 metals and I'm thinking it's brass but I would like to be sure. The bowl sounds amazing.

Hello Lakisha, thanks so much for reaching out to us! Most traditional Tibetan singing bowls are made using a special blend of 7 metals including: gold, silver, copper, iron, tin, mercury, and lead. However, only 2 metals are critical to the sound and function of a singing bowl. This bronze alloy of copper and tin is commonly referred to as bell metal. Bell metal is about 80% copper and 20% tin. So, our singing bowls are made up mostly of bell metal, with a very small amount of the additional 7 metals added due to the traditional aspects although they do not affect the sound or function of the bowl.
