Original Skull Mala

• This classic Tibetan mala features handmade and hand carved water buffalo bone beads.
• Each bead is hand carved individually the shape of a skull from water buffalo bone.  The skull in Buddhism is often recognized as a symbol of impermanence.
• This wrist mala serves as a powerful reminder to be here now and to live in the present moment; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.

A note about bone beads:  In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, and ritual items.  Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animal goes to waste.  These amazing bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.

Mala measures approximately 53-55 inches around.  Beads are about 12x8mm.  As each mala is handmade, tassel color may vary.
