You should expect to receive your refund within 7-14 days of us receiving your parcel; however, in most cases, you will receive a refund more quickly. This includes the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request.
Please consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
Standard Mail to most European addresses takes approximately 18-20 business days. All other destinations take between 20-30 business days. If you have not received international deliveries before, you may need to contact your local Post Office for package delivery information.
Some packages require a signature release from Customs. Additional delivery delays can occur pending in-country Customs inspections and security warnings. We do our best to complete International Customs forms accurately and legally with consideration for the recipient. Gifts will be labeled as such and are often not subject to import duties. The addressee is responsible for all duties and import regulations.
Please familiarize yourself with your country's import laws and regulations before importing items. If you are awaiting delivery of an international package and delivery seems delayed, please contact your local postal office. Packages often await a signed release at a local postal office, and the addressee was not notified.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is best to keep them moisturized with an oil of choice or by occasionally using a pea-sized amount of Mineral Oil. Rub a small amount in your hand with essential oil (optional), and then thoroughly rub into your mala beads. If you live in a dry climate, this may need to be done every few months to maintain the beads, but otherwise, once a year may be sufficient. Over time, your natural beads will darken. This is a normal process and is a great visual reminder of the growth in your practice!
The beads we carry have been hand-strung with care by craftspeople and artisans. Some designs are more durable than others, while others are more decorative. A larger bead, more often, has a larger hole and will allow for a stronger cord. Gemstone beads are generally heavier than wood or seed beads. Please keep these ideas in mind when shopping for wearable vs. daily-use malas.
Over time, the soaps, oils, lotions, and salt on your skin will cause natural wear on the cord and some porous beads. Even some synthetic cords can wear quickly when exposed to frequent moisture and residue on your skin if worn constantly. We suggest removing any mala around excess moisture, for it may require restringing if you constantly wear it against your skin.
If washing is required, we suggest using warm water with a small amount of liquid dish soap. Pat dry and hang.
First, we suggest measuring your wrist with a soft measuring tape📏 or use this printable measuring guide to determine your wrist size.

Yes! We offer restringing services. Every monk and nun must restring their mala from time to time, and it is considered an important part of their practice. If you feel your mala broke prematurely, please do let us know, and we would be happy to replace or repair it whenever possible.
The artisan-made nature of our designs means we may not have all of the materials needed for restringing, so please reach out to us via email info@dharmashop.com. We are happy to help in any way we can.
Some of our customers prefer to restring malas themselves as part of their practice. We are here to encourage you to give that a try!
In the 20+ years that DharmaShop has been selling malas, we've encountered nearly every adjustable knot. This obviously has led to a lot of questions from our customers over the years! How do I adjust my mala? Will I break my mala if I pull too hard? Etc. We decided to break it all down in the video below!

1. Hold the bowl lightly with your hand; don't grasp it (a good Buddhist theory put into practice). You want the bowl to sing and resonate, so don't hold on too tightly.
2. It often helps to strike the bowl gently and then start to sing the bowl by firmly holding the striker and rubbing the outside rim of the singing bowl.
3. Large or hand-hammered bowls often have many tones. Play them with wooden, felt, or leather sticks to hear different tones. Cast bowls have a single tone that is usually quite clear.
4. Be patient! Learning to sing the bowl with ease takes time. Follow the tips here to get decades of beautiful sound from these handmade masterpieces.
How to Play a Singing Bowl
According to His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, and many other great lamas, the day when we hang prayer flags is much less important than the motivation we have while doing it. The most crucial thing is to have pure intentions and express good wishes. If you would like to view the dates considered not ideal for hanging your prayer flags, follow our blog post here:

The best way to choose a mala is to set your intention, and think about what you hope to achieve with your mala once you've considered practicality (sizings, materials) and aesthetics. Whether thats healing, clarity, protection, etc., each gemstone is believed to hold specific energies that speak to these intentions. You can use the built in filters on our Mala Beads collection to narrow down your search! Most importantly, trust your intuition. Go with the mala or wrist mala that checks your boxes and resonates with you.

"I love wearing mala beads during my meditation practice and while teaching yoga. These beautiful pieces help me connect with sacred energy and hold space for practices of mindfulness and peace."

A New Twist on Prayer Flags! When I saw these, I wanted to get them because they looked different from prayer flags I am used to. When they arrived, I was not disappointed. They add a lovely contrast to my other prayer flags. May the wind carry these messagers of goodness and compassion to all sentient beings everywhere!

Thank you for picking my first singing bowl for me. . From the very first touch I LOVED it. I asked for a deep tone and am pleased, with how deep the tone is on this bowl. This is my first bowl but not my last. Thank You
