There are no oceans in Tibet. This must be a major reason that Tibetans love coral so much. They trade salt, turquoise and butter for coral along the trade routes. Unfortunately the cost of coral is high and most Tibetans cannot afford to wear much of it. So Tibetans make their own coral out of dyed stone and glass. These glass beads look like old coral beads and you see these beads everywhere in nepal.
