Beautiful true matte lapis mala. Features a lapis carved Buddha head charm wrapped in sterling silver. Strung on blue cord.

The Medicine Buddha is a deity of compassion and healing. He is believed to alleviate suffering for mental and physical illness. Often his image is shown with rays of lapis lazuli light radiating from his crown.

This mala measures approximately 35 inches around. Contains 108 8mm matte lapis beads plus two 10mm lapis spacers and guru bead. The Buddha head charm measures 1 inch. Made right here at the DharmaShop!

Love Them

I love the feel of these beads, can do with out the Buda head, makes the set to heavy. But all in all I really like the feel.

Beautiful Matte Lapis Mala

I found the matte lapis lazuli Medicine Buddha mala as beautiful in person as I thought it was when judging by the picture. Since I got it, I find that I am selecting mainly clothing items that match this mala so I can wear it over and over:) I am not using this mala for counting although I think it would work well, particularly for smaller hands.

Dear Dharma Shop, I have some inquires of the below mentioned item: Medicine Buddha Lapis Mala $ 208.00 SKU: ML495 Does the beads has a bigger version like 10mm instead of 8mm? Or this 8mm is a standard for counting 108 beads for prayers? Please advise. Thanks Adryan

Adryan, thank you for asking about the Medicine Buddha Lapis Mala. Both 8mm and 10mm beads are standard for malas. For counting, 108 beads is standard for mediation practice. The size of the beads is usually a preference of the wearer/practitioner. Some people have smaller or larger hands and prefer either a smaller or larger bead. This is usually an individuals preference based off of what will work best for their hands and minds for concentration during meditation. This mala is great for meditation as it will give you the standard number of beads in the 8mm size, with some larger 10mm spacers to bring you back to the mala if your mind starts to wander. Hello, is it true that lapis lazuli can leave blue marks on hands when you are meditating for long time?

Paul, thank you for reaching out. It is true that some lapis lazuli beads can leave blue marks on hands after meditating. This will depend usually on the quality of the bead and its stabilization process. All gemstone beads have to be stabilized to some degree for things such as color and hardness. Without this process, most stones would not be able to withstand the process of actually becoming a bead or the everyday wear and tear of being worn as jewelry or used for meditation. Some lapis beads are dyed/stained a bit more heavily than others. We try our best to make sure that none of our lapis jewelry will leave any blue marks on your hands or clothes. This particular mala uses very high quality lapis stones and should not leave any sort of staining behind. Hopefully this information has been helpful!
