I bought a couple of these for the bowls that lacked them. They are much thicker than the last brocade ones I got. The bowls need something soft to resonate well, and all these provide that, but the new ones are more like putting the bowl on a hill top where the older ones nest a bowl better. That means you cannot strike the bowl as hard, at least not with a felted mallet--wood mallet, no problem.
