This exquisite Medicine Buddha statue is handmade in Kathmandu, Nepal by a 5th generation crafting family. Each bronze statue is made using the lost wax method, which takes considerable time and skill. After casting, each statue is hand detailed and carved by master craftsmen.
The incredible detailed painting of these statues are done by Meenu Shakya. Her work is unique and especially meaningful for her as it allows her to stay home while raising her two young children. We are the first shop to offer these masterpiece statues to the Western public.
The Medicine Buddha is a deity of compassion and healing. He is believed to alleviate suffering for mental and physical illness. Often his image is shown with rays of lapis lazuli light radiating from his crown.
