This cool antique mala features 108 copal amber beads that have been cut on each end, making them flat in the traditional manner. It also includes antique bone spacer beads that complete the vintage look. The aged copal amber is made of natural tree resin and provide a much more affordable alternative to true baltic amber.
A note about bone usage: In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, utensils, and ritual items. Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animal goes to waste. These amazing bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.
Mala measures approximately 38 inches around. Antique copal beads are about 14-15mm, bone spacers are about 17mm. Made in Nepal.
