Three Marks of Existence Onyx Mala

  |

PAIR IT WITH

Sold Out
  • A 108 bead mala necklace version of a revamp and re-issue of an all-time DharmaShop favorite bracelet we last sold in 2017.
  • Features powerful matte Onyx, a hand carved bone skull, Bodhi Seed guru bead, and Naga Shell Om Mani Padme Hum (mantra of compassion) beads whose ink will fade with time as the carvings remain.
  • This mala is a powerful tool for contemplating the interconnection of the three marks of existence in Buddhism - impermanence (annica), suffering (dukkha), and non-self (anatta). The realization of these concepts lead to ultimate freedom and happiness.

As humans we experience suffering because we are attached to things that are impermanent, including our own self. Once we understand that the universe is constantly changing and nothing lasts forever, we can let go of our attachments, live in the present moment, and accept ourselves and others fully and without judgement.

We first sourced these incredible hand-carved Om Mani beads in 2014 after finding them on a team trip to Kathmandu. Unfortunately, we ran into some supply issues with the hand-carved beads around the time of the earthquake in Nepal, and sold our last bracelet in 2017. Recently the DharmaShop team in Nepal found an even better source for these beads and made sure to send them our way. The Om Mani mantra invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion.

Onyx is worn to defend negative energy that is directed at you; it fortifies self confidence and responsibility. It alleviates worry, tension, and nervousness and eliminates confusion and nightmares.
