Inlaid Bodhi Seed and Skull Wrist Mala

  |
  • This eclectic and bold wrist mala from Nepal makes for a very unique accessory!
  • Made with a mixture of bodhi seed beads and naturally stained bone beads that have been inlaid with pieces of brass, copper, silver, coral and turquoise chips.  Also features hand carved skull-shaped spacers.
  • Bone beads, and the skull beads especially, allow us to further reflect upon the Buddhist teachings of impermanence.  They serve as a reminder to live in the present moment and be here now; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.

A note about bone usage:  In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, and ritual items.  Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animal goes to waste.  These amazing bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.

Adjustable wrist mala measures approximately 6.75 inches around when fully tightened and opens to about 9 inches.  Bodhi and bone beads are 12-13mm, skull beads are about 7x11mm.

Beautiful wrist mala!

This is my favorite wrist mala from Dharma Shop! Each bead is unique and it reminds me of the work the artists invested in each bead. Love the colors and how the bone skull beads remind me of impermanence. Thank you, Dharma Shop, for supporting these artists and offering wrist malas that truly contain their own uniqueness.

Inlaid Bodhi Seed and Skull, wrist Mala

The craftsmanship is amazing. It is my favorite wrist Mala and I wear it all the time. I would suggest not wearing the adjustable size Mala in water. I think the knots on mine began to come apart after being in water too often, but I tied them off and burned the ends and it’s good as new. It’s exactly what I expected it to be and more. Beautiful product.

Great looking bracelet. Gets lots of complements.

Love the bracelet & the beads. It’s a little difficult to get on & off but I think the knots will loosen over time so that it slides easier.

Hello John, thanks for taking the time to write this review! You are absolutely correct when stating the knot will loosen over time. With the natural oils from our skin, hand-washing etc. that will cause slight wear to the natural fiber cord, making it much easier to open and close the more it is worn! Thanks again for your feedback, and for your support of Himalayan artisans!

Just Love My Mala

Having pondered for some time I purchased one of these inlaid Bodhi Seed and Skull bracelets many months ago. I am as delighted with it now as I was when it first arrived. The only advice I'd give is try not to get it wet as the cord does stretch slightly. However, mine has seen some heavy wear and is still my precious mala bracelet of choice.
