White water buffalo bone and a traditional Tibetan brass beads inlaid with turquoise and coral is strung on durable woven black cord with a traditional sliding Tibetan knot.
A note about bone usage: these bone beads are made from water buffalo. In the Himalayas it is typical for large animals such as yak and water buffalo to be used for service and then slaughtered for food, clothing, utensils, and ritual items. Given the limited resources and religious practices in the region none of the animal goes to waste.
Adjustable wrist mala opens to 9 1/4 inches and closes to 6 1/2 at its smallest. Includes 8mm white bone beads and one 12mm Tibetan bead. Handmade in Nepal.
