We had the wonderful experience of getting to watch as this mala was hand strung on our last visit to Nepal in March. It was very exciting to see the beading and stringing process happening right in front of us at our friend Dipendra's shop outside of the Boudhanath Stupa. The mala features 108 smoky agate beads and is finished with a modern true agate 3-eyed Dzi bead and brass accents.
The 3-eyed Dzi represents the three stars of luck: happiness, honor and longevity. It is the bead of wealth, health, and said to bring continuous fortunes.
Agate is known to be a stone of strength, and can help to balance yin/yang energies, courage, protection, healing, and calming. Metaphysically, agate has a lower intensity and vibrates to a slower frequency than other stones, but is highly regarded as a stabilizing and strengthening influence.
Mala measures approximately 32 inches around. Beads are about 8mm. 3-eyed Dzi measures about 1 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. Made in Nepal.
