Q:
Hi, How many mukhi are these rudrakhshas ? Also, how do we know if they are original ? Thanks, Anirban
A:
Hello Anirban, thanks for reaching out to us! As we have so many handmade 108 bead rudraksha malas and wrist malas, we do not source our rudraksha beads based on their number of faces or mukhi but rather by their overall quality and physical characteristics such as shape and size. The mala artisans select beads based on these qualities to ensure that bead size and overall circumference of the mala are more uniform. I have found that many of our standard 8mm rudraksha beads tend to have 5 faces, but can be anywhere from 3-5 and aren’t always uniform from bead to bead. The number of faces can vary because again, the overall quality, size, and shape of the rudraksha is how the beads are selected.
Also, all of our rudraksha seed malas are sourced and handmade by artisans in Kathmandu, Nepal. We have worked directly with this team of mala makers for over 10 years, and they only provide genuine seed beads. I hope this information is helpful! We appreciate your support of Himalayan artisans.
