During our 2015 trip to Nepal, we met with a group that makes hand fired clay statues and incense burners.
We visited the shop and loved the people and products, including this handcrafted clay elephant incense burner. It features holes for both Tibetan and Japanese style incense.
Elephants shown with an upturned trunk are known to represent good luck.

The main characteristics of the elephant are strength and steadfastness. It is also one of the animals included in the Buddhist story of the Four Friends. A creature of great strength and size, yet capable of amazing tenderness and intelligence.

Measures approximately 4 inches wide.

Joyful little fellow

And I knew I should have purchased two. I quite recently received this delightful incense holder, even nicer, if that’s possible, in person than photograph. A rarity when it comes to DharmaShop items, all are well crafted with painstaking care making each one a happy purchase. This little fellow is really exceptional. I am looking forward to the day when perhaps it will be available to purchase another for outside too.
