Nepalese Marigold Flower Lokta Paper Sheets

  |

These are recycled Nepalese Lokta Paper Sheets that have been dyed using natural vegetable and mineral pigment colors, with Marigold flower petals pressed into each sheet.  The Marigold is associated with the sun - being vibrant yellow and gold in color.  Theflowers open when the sun is out.  It is also called the “herb of the sun," representing passion and creativity.  This paper is perfect for wrapping gifts or for other paper crafts.

Lokta paper is made entirely by a local women's co-operative community in Kathmandu involved in the ecological treatment and preservation of the forest.  This form of paper production is both sustainable and eco-friendly, as the harvesting of lokta bark, the primary ingredient of the process, does not effect growth or survival of the tree.  It is one of the strongest papers available and is not affected by insects or weather.  Lokta papers are believed to be used many centuries ago.  Documents and texts written on these papers are still found in Nepal that are centuries old.

Each sheet sold individually, measuring approximately 28 inches x 18 inches.  Handmade in Nepal.
