How are you supposed to use prayer flags outside? When I watch travel shows on TV I always see them hanging. Some are tattered in pieces. Are you supposed to leave them up until the disintegrate ?

The flags being tattered, frayed and faded is a visual representation of those prayers/mantras being answered!
