Tibetan Dzi and Bone Mala

  |
  • This 108 bead mala is handmade in Nepal with water buffalo bone beads, true agate Dzi bead spacers, and naga shell accents.
  • Bone beads allow us to reflect upon the Buddhist teachings of impermanence.  They serve as a reminder to live in the present moment; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.
  • Dzi beads are said to do a number of things.  Some protect its wearer from negative energies or accidents, some attract wealth or wisdom, while others might bring you love and happiness.

In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, and ritual items.  Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animal goes to waste.  These amazing bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.

Mala measures approximately 30 inches around.  Bone beads are about 10-11mm, Dzi beads are about 1.5 inches long and 0.5 inch wide.
