Tibetan Yak Pendant Necklace

  |
  • We have just added this one-of-a-kind statement necklace to our Mountain Spirit Collection!
  • It combines traditional Tibetan style elements with Southwestern sensibilities.
  • Features a large hand carved yak bone pendant from Nepal set in sterling silver with 3 turquoise stone accents.  Strung on a hand woven leather cord.

In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, and ritual items.  Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animal goes to waste.  These amazing bone pendants are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.

The skull in Buddhism is often recognized as a symbol of impermanence.  This necklace is a powerful reminder to be here now and to live in the present moment; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.

Necklace measures about 18 inches around.  Pendant is about 4 inches long from bale and 3 inches wide.
