On the inside you will see a Tibetan mandala design, a geometrical design often used for meditation. Mandalas are rich with symbolism and sacred meaning. In fact, the etymology of the word "mandala" suggests not just a circle but a "container of essence."
The bottom of the bowl features a conch shell, a popular symbol in Tibetan Buddhism that represents music. It is one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols and represents the fame of the Buddha's teaching which spreads in all directions like the sound of the conch trumpet. It is a symbol which fearlessly proclaims the truth of the dharma.
The mantra of compassion, Om Mani Padme Hum, in Tibetan script can be seen along the outside of the bowl. This mantra invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion.
Bowl measures approximately 8.5 inches in diameter and about 4.25 inches tall. Comes with a traditional wooden striker.
