Citipati Impermanence Prayer Flags

  |

PAIR IT WITH

  • We are so excited to finally share our DharmaShop exclusive Citipati Impermanence Prayer Flags with you!  Each black flag is hand printed with white ink by prayer flag artisans in Kathmandu.
  • Designed by the DharmaShop team with our friend Brook, a local Michigan tattoo artist, these flags feature a detailed Citipati skeleton dance design.
  • The skeleton dance is a sacred Tibetan ritual found in Himalayan Buddhism.  The Citipati skeletons are a pair of lovers whose dance represents the liberation and enlightenment that comes from accepting our impermanence.

Citipati is a protective deity shown in the form of a skeleton who are fierce protectors of the dharma.  They serve as a symbol of death and rebirth, and a reminder of the impermanence of life.  The Citipati remind us to live in the present moment; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.  Despite their dark appearance, they actually represent perfect awareness and a joyous freedom from attachment.

Set includes 10 flags that measure about 8 inches tall and 8 inches wide.  Full string is approximately 7 feet long.  Made of cotton.
