Meditating Buddha Conch Shell

  |
  • A perfect addition to any altar, the conch shell is a popular symbol in Tibetan Buddhism that represents music.
  • Handmade by an artisan in the Kathmandu Valley, conch shells with this level of etching and detail are difficult to come by and sell quickly whenever we are lucky enough to find them.
  • To be used on an altar, this one-of-a-kind shell is hand decorated with a meditating Buddha design.

The naga/conch shell is one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols and represents the fame of the Buddha's teaching which spreads in all directions like the sound of the conch trumpet.  It is a symbol which fearlessly proclaims the truth of the dharma.

The meditating Buddha is shown in Dhyana Mudra, with both hands in the lap and legs crossed.  This hand gesture promotes the energy of meditation and deep contemplation.  It indicates the perfect balance of thought, rest of the senses, and tranquility.

Measures approximately 4 inches long.  Handmade in Nepal.
