Our statue makers in Kathmandu are doing some incredible work recently, this Green Tara is Carved entirely by hand, then cast using the lost wax method. Over 8 artists work on each of these statues, carving, making wax molds, pouring hot bronze, painting the gold faces and eyes and hand painting them. Meena Shakya, a master artisan did all the finishing work, it takes her months and sometimes years to complete a statue with such intricate details. Note the extraordinary images painted on Taras lap and on her back.
