Antique Bodhi Spirit Mala

• A true antique Bodhi Seed mala purchased directly by the DharmaShop team in Kathmandu earlier this year.  These small antique beads are full of incredible detail including the phoenix eye motif.
• Made of 108 small, well used Bodhi beads.  Each bead is rich in color with a beautiful sheen and texture.  These antique beads have been restrung in recent years on monks robe red cord and include an additional two beads below the guru.
• These dark-speckled seed beads have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom.  "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.

On a trip to Nepal in October 2019, DharmaShop owner, Sander Cohen,was walking kora around the Boudhanath stupa when he saw an individual seller with a variety of Bodhi Seed malas.  As he began talking with the seller, monks from the nearby monastery came by and they discussed the beautiful quality of the beads.  With some helpful encouragement from the monks, Sander went on to purchase a handful of incredible antique bodhi malas from that seller.

Our team in Kathmandu was able to connect with this seller again this year and acquire a few more special malas from the collection!  We absolutely love the additional three antique Bodhi beads included below the guru bead on this special mala.

Mala measures approximately 41 inches around.  Beads are mostly 11mm in size with some 10-12mm.  Guru bead is about 18mm.  Comes with a DharmaShop keepsake bag!
