Bodhi and Lava Rock Impermanence Mala

  |

This is a traditional bodhi mala with a stylish design.  It includes 108 bodhi seed and lava rock beads with brass spacers strung on heavy cotton cord, and finishes with a beautiful brass skull pendant with filagree detail.  The larger size of these bodhi seed beads can be very satisfying for counting.

The skull in Buddhism is often recognized as a symbol of impermanence.  This mala is an amazing way to reflect on impermanence in your daily practice.  It is a powerful reminder to be here now and to live in the present moment; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.

Bodhi seed beads can be used for counting all types of mantras as well as other prayers.  These dark-speckled seed beads have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom.  "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.

Lava rock is known for its grounding properties and is wonderful for calming the emotions.  It is created from the center of the Earth and therefore is fantastic for stabilizing and grounding the root chakra.

***Due to the natural element of the bodhi seed beads, size of mala may vary.  Please let us choose.***

Malas sizes vary from approximately 40-50 inches in circumference.  Bodhi seed beads are approximately 12-15mm.  Lava rock beads are 10mm.  Brass skull pendant measures about 1 5/8 inch tall from bail, 3/4 inch wide, and 7/8 inch thick.
