Tibetan Prayer Flags are a beautiful way to add color to your space, but they are not just a decoration, but a wonderful gift that carries a lot of tradition from the colors used to the meanings hand stamped on each flag. Follow along and learn more about prayer flags before you start hanging them up in your home!

What are Prayer Flags anyway?

Essentially, they represent your wishes and prayers being carried by the wind. For example, our Set of 8 Auspicious Flags features each of the 8 symbols, and having these in your home is believed to bring blessings into your space.

When should I hang them?

We do have our blog that provides specific dates to avoid hanging your flags, but the main idea to keep in mind is the day when we hang prayer flags is much less important than the motivation we have while doing it. The most crucial thing is to have pure intentions and express good wishes.

Can I hang my prayer flags inside?

Of course! If you prefer to keep your prayer flags indoors, you are welcome to hang them anywhere you'd like! Also, we have some great indoor options like our Set of 25 Lokta Paper Tibetan Garland Flags that look great in your home or office. Our favorite way to hang this style is during the holidays! We love using these prayer flags for our Christmas Tree in the office, and you can too!

Are your flags fraying or fading?

The fading of color and fabric shows that your prayer have been carried through the wind, and is considered quite auspicious! The more fraying and fading you see, the more your positive intentions and prayers have traveled through the air!

Do the colors of the flags carry any meaning?

You bet! The traditional colors white, red, green, yellow, and blue symbolize the 5 elements (air, fire, water, earth, and space) and these colors also represent the directions (North, South, East, West and Center)
